2nd Lt George Cowie - Royal Flying Corps the only son of Captain Alexander Mitchell and Sylvia Margaret Cowie, of Dufftown, Banffshire.
He entered the School in 1912 and left at the end of 1916. He was in the XV in his last term.
He received his commission in May, 1917, and went to France on October 11th to join the 54th Squadron R.F.C. Less than a fortnight later, during an engagement with a large enemy formation, he fell from a great height as a result of a collision, within the German lines. At first reported "Missing", it was afterwards ascertained that he was killed near Roulars, in Belgium, on October 22nd, 1917. Age 18.
His Squadron Commander wrote: "He is a great loss to us in every way, as he was shaping very well as a War Pilot.
