Selecting the trimmings - there's more to book publishing than meets the eye

It's not just the text and photographs that need serious consideration. The trimmings and packaging are equally important. How the book looks and feels is part of the overall experience. The cloth for the cover and the slipcase, the end papers and the material for the headbands. All these have an important part to play in the presentation of the book. It's not just about the photographs, I want this book to be a desirable item to own, hold and read.

So very true! I'm very cognizant of the "feel" of a book, the entire "experience" you describe. Every vacation means another book added to the Delaney bookshelves, and no matter how much time we spend on the web, there are always stacks of books in our media room, parlor, and bedroom! I learned to read at age 3 1/2 and have not yet read everything I want to read yet! There is nothing quite like the feel and smell of a nice new book.

It's lovely to see so much care and attention going into the book itself as well as the photographs!
