The original material - where it started
On my first week-long trip with the veterans I took a note pad to record what they had to say. Written in long hand, this has proved invaluable in remembering things that were said twenty five years ago. I also sent out questionnaires for them to complete with their the experiences. These are now pieces of history hand written by the men that were there.

What a lot of work went into this volume, but I guarantee you it will be valuable to our generation and those to come. As you say, this is history first hand, and it would be lost forever if you didn't record it. Our senior citizens have a lot to tell us, especially those who went to war and saw things we can only imagine.
We have the lives we do because young men who barely needed to shave went off to war...and older men with families and responsibilities left those responsibilities to go defend their country.
